Retrospective Structural Warranty
The Retrospective Warranty has been designed to be used on a a residential property which has been built or converted in the last 10 years without the benefit of a recognised 10 year structural warranty, architects certificate or builders guarantee. It is sometimes referred to as a completed property warranty. Cover is provided for the balance of the 10 year period from the date of completion. This means if you are selling the property, the prospective purchaser or mortgagor receives the correct level of security on their investment.
The cover provided protects the policyholder in the event the property suffers physical damage or the risk of physical damage as a result of a defect in the design, workmanship, or components of the home. Unlike an architects certificate, the policy responds directly, as there is no professional negligence to prove, making it a much more secure option.
